I've spent the last four days in Germany in a tiny town called Monzelfeld which is not too far from Bernkastel, about 15 minutes down some very windy roads from the top of the mountains down to the Mosel River.
In case you haven't been keeping up with "stuff", my mother has moved to Monzelfeld and I've spent the time there helping her get set up in her new home.
It's quite an idyllic part of the world. Lots of fresh air and beautiful rural landscapes and I am looking forward to the opportunity of visiting there frequently and often.
Tonight I am back in the UK with a few days to visit with relatives before heading back to the US midweek.
I apologise for not being in touch so well or the lack of email and posting but sadly my AT&T iPhone, which I had hoped to rely on, does not connect well with 3G networks and is basically useless here in the UK!!!! Utterly frustrating and of course no-one wants to accept responsibility for the fact that it does not work! Ugh!
Amazing how much we come to rely on connectivity to the internet for so many things!
So, I'll post again, as and when I can.

a marvelous image with the vineyards up the hill ~ wonderful colors, too.
cut yourself some slack, use the time to not worry about technology for a bit :-)
easier said than done.
enjoy your time. . .

Marie, I have to say you are the BEST at keeping up, keeping in touch, answering student questions, sending cash when I ask.
that's public knowledge...right?

What a gorgeous place! No wonder they fell in love with it!
I was glad to hear she's with her hubby, who speaks German. That makes it sound more like a do-able adventure (said she, who is a baby-step-taker, for sure).

My iPhone worked in Germany Joanne, just not in the UK for some bizarre reason.

Lovely photo! I totally understand about the frustration over lack of connection. I would have thought the iPhone would work in Europe. I bet you've been taking lots of fantastic photos.
