Will catch up with you when and where I can, but the internet is a bit blotchy and my days are filled with photo taking and not much time to edit.....

We had a grand day in the City, meeting up with our friends Christine and Andreas from Germany. Christine has been a long time art friend (and student) of mine for years and it's lovely to catch up when we can, even though our meetings are few and far between.
Today the four of us walked the High Line in NYC and checked out LOTS of galleries between W14th and W26th Streets and chatted much inbetween. The hightlight was the Roy Nachum exhibition at Joseph Nahmad Contemporary, 450 W 14th St. Well worth a visit if you have the opportunity.
We topped the day off with a tasty Italian meal at La Carbonara - which never fails to please.
Capped off by a lovely sunset at Centerport Beach, LI, NY..... followed by a delicious Indian Dinner.
And tomorrow I am off into the City again, this time to visit with some friends from Germany. We'll walk on the High Line and then grab a bite to eat and give Christina's English a run for it's money!

I had a fun day out in NYC yesterday visiting with a Artist friend on the Upper Westside who wants to do some collaborative work for an exhibition she is planning.
The concept and i-phoneography is in her head, but she's persuaded me to take care of the Post-Processing of her images in Photoshop and to profile and print the large format ones.
I'm pretty excited as we are rather on the same wave-legth - which is a good thing and I can quite see where she wants to get with her work which will ultimately be displayed in large and small format using paper and Encaustics.
Stay tuned on that score!
I then cruised down to Battery Park and ensconced myself (cat free) in the uber smooth Ritz Carlton (courtesty of sleep-over priviledges thanks to DH's business meeting). Soaked up the view of Miz Liberty before joining the "boys" for a few glasses of wine and fast paced conversation on topics ranging from business to politics and back to politics - whereupon I prudently ate more peanuts and just listened!
Since I can't vote, dontcha know.... (although I seem to pay an awful lot of taxes.....)...

The class is designed for Photoshop CS5 users but many of the projects will work in Elements. You can also download a FREE trial of CS5 from the Adobe website to use for the duration of the Class.
I'm not much one for self portraits, but sitting here tonight, my desk knee deep in papers and sheets of syllabus material for class prep, a few moments of frivolity were called for!
I miss the days when I could "see" things without the aid of a pair of spec's perched on my nose. Great for bouncing light (and reading) if nothing else!

.... I don't really need to say more do I?
I will say it is ABSOLUTELY FREEZING and even colder actually. Despite having good hand knitted Aussie wool socks in my boots my feet were freezing after tramping around the alleyways, over and across bridges. I am glad I brought my ski gloves and a bunch of big hand knitted scarves.
This is an incredible place. The first thing I saw when I got off the water taxi from the airport was two grand pianos being transported on a boat. Yah what? Not just one, but TWO?
I've learned you need to back pack and not haul anything you can't heave up a set of stairs. (Thankfully I am an economy packer!).
Lots of lovely people here. Most speak some sort of english to help you out at a pinch.
You can't be overweight and get lost, you will get stuck inbetween the walls of a small street.
You CAN go too far down a street and fall into a canal if you are not careful.
Life without cars in the way is lovely.
A fish market CAN be picturesque.
Taking 3 hours to eat dinner at a leisurely pace and not having to leave a rip-off tip was magic!

You would hardly believe that it's Winter in the North East. 62F today and the beach was packed with folk strolling along the boardwalk at the Sunken Meadow Park. It was lovely to take the air, with our coats flapping in the breeze, scarves and gloves left abandoned in the car.
The roller coaster of temperatures in the last week or so has been crazy, but sunshine abounds - so I am not complaining, no siree, not one little bit. And the camera loves the magical light that comes with fading sun and cooling sky.
Aside from walking on the beach I also did a little window shopping today - spying out some new camera equipment as in February I am going to take a photography workshop with the talented and reknowned David Nightingale.
One of my goals this year is to learn a little bit more about my camera and how to take "proper" photos so I am hoping this workshop will help me along in that directon as well as being something of a "dream come true" experience.
My thanks to all my stalwart blog readers and visitors over the years. It's hard to believe that I have been blogging here since 2005!
Some of you read and leave, others read and leave a comment, some of you are students and friends and others are family.
I value and cherish you all!!
As you ALL know I "love to photoshop" ... and in that spirit there will be a new and exciting chapter opening for me in 2012.
So stay tuned for news on that score!
