It's a Red Thing

Well I dont know if it's the Christmas spirit or what, but I seem to have developed a fondness for retro red.  Oh well...I shall go with the flow. At least it's purty!!

Today was another not particularly stella weather day 'downunder'.  I guess that is  the downside of living so close the the penguins, you get to share their climate!  So, instead of getting out and about too much, I went and got my hair cut (which I try to do ONLY in Australia), did some washing - which I gleefully hung on the line - despite the rain, and then attended to some more of my Mother to Small Men chores.....can we say Fillings and Tooth brushing in the same sentence here????  Harrumph!

After our totally decadent supper of Fish and Chips I set to work on Rev 425+ of this year's Christmas card - the work above being the most recent attempt.  For some reason I cant quite come up with something that Floats my Boat!...at this rate the holidays will be here and gone before I even get close to the printer or the post office!

Still...it's Red and that's good right?

Brekkie time calls for a fat slice of toasted Mulitgrain bread (that tastes like bread and not like sugar dough) topped with a good swipe of the old Vegemite!  YUM!

Poste not Pix

I'd hoped to be snapping a bunch of new photos while home this time and adding to my growing stock collection.  Alas, the weather gods are not co-operating so I have had to content myself with messing around with images I have stashed on the lappie and hoping the grey skies move off soon!   

So today there's a new addition to the faux poste collection for Amora Island.

It's all in the Walk

I had high hopes of garnering a few good pics today, but as I said earlier, it was way to gray and icky for taking good photos or doing much justice to the scenery.  Nevertheless I managed to get my "outdoor" child to brave the chill and come for a walk in the late afternoon.
This was after a determined day of painter effort (and not at my keyboard I might add)...seeing my kitchen duly completed and lookin' good!!

The walk was good, the air fresh, to say the least, and it's always intriguing and enlightening  to spend solitary moments, minus other interference, with one's offspring.

Anyway, sans any new pics, I pulled what I had off the card in my Canon and lifted a photo of one of the autumnal trees that I took in our Charlotte neighbourhood a couple of weeks ago to use in this "Tree of Life" piece.

Nuff stuff..time for bed, I have to deliver cricketers to the pitch by 0800h...ugh!

Wide Awake

Ever have one of those moments when you wake up and there are so many things ready to burst out of your head you think your brain might pop?

I slept really well last night, I always do down here for some reason - but the minute I was awake there were a bazillion things, ideas, thoughts..well just stuff!!...laying right there on the pillow with me.

I guess the upside is that it makes for a great digital collage and a good excuse to goof off from finishing the painting of the kitchen!..hmmmm artmode - just as well, it's too cold for the beach today!!

Contemplation

For the first time in a while I actually sat down to create some new artwork tonight.  Usually not a day goes by that some, one or many pieces end up in the pile at end of my desk by the time I head for bed, but when I come home, despite having the luxury of a mini studio and plenty of fixin's - so to speak - it usually takes me a few days before I feel reasonably sorted out and in control of all the other life variables to the extent that I can turn off for a few hours and chill out.

Seems like I have got to that point - though some might disagree.  The last 4 days here have passed in a whirlwind of home and mother catch-up.  Dentist duties, shopping, cooking ,cleaning, hugging boys, haircuts, laundry, hockey games, cricket practice and never mind that I caught a hair and decided to re-paint the kitchen from top to bottom....(nearly finished!!)

Now I am ready...ready for the beach..ready to soak up some sunshine ...and ready to contemplate whatever takes my fancy!

Oh..and before I forget..Happy Turkey Day to all of my wonderful friends UP-over!

Illio Friday - Free

Well after 25hrs of flying, three airplane rides and countless hours of waiting, another 5 hr drive and I am "HOME"..as close to the South Pole as you can get before swimming!!

...and I had to smile when I saw the Illustration Friday theme of FREE!  Cos that is pretty much what being "home" means to me.  Blue skies, salty air, gum trees waving in the wind and the sound of the waves as they crash on the beach..and me, wiggling my toes in the sand....yelling into the wind...I'm Free!
