Playing Catch-Up

A somewhat belated art-piece to commemorate the Season and the moments of the week but life has been busy and I have tried (almost) as hard as my DH to keep off the 'puter and focus on family this week.

Aside from spending several days trying to revive a sick and corporate-worn husband, our Holiday has been blessed with Peace, Joy and some lovely gifts from Santa et al.  I am now the proud owner of a NanooNanoo Pod thingy which will make my traveling hours much more entertaining and some delicious new scent which should match nicely with the aroma of Golden's products which is generally the predominant smell wafting thru the studio :-)

Thoughts of art and {work} are slowly creeping to the forefront of the picture.  Even this piece has some new framing and elements which will hopefully grow up to be part of some new stamp designs I have on the go.

This weekend we are off to do the slippery dippery thing on matchsticks - yes even Aussies like to ski...hopefully it will stay crisp and clear in the Virginia mountains and there will be a little powder to burn!

If I don't see you, talk to you, email you before Saturday, have a wonderful New Year's turnaround and may all the things you wish for in the coming year be yours.

Feather Brained...

.... pretty much sums up the way I feel this evening.  I've spent all day diddling around with web pages, templates, that HTMschtuff and I am sure that Dreamweaver can do everything in the whole wide world, except cook the dinner and get my line breaks where I want them...harrumph.

Of course to break the monotony of web driven drivel I spent next to as many hours futzing in Photoshop and have gained an extra few gigs of art files -nevermind pounds from sitting on my butt all day.
though I must add...I did manage the obligatory walk around the scintillating sub-division - and almost ran home as it was so cold and Dreamweaver was more exciting..!!

The odd chap at the top of the page is another of the altered cab cards I have done over the past few months.  I think this one will be further adapted and used in an upcoming project that involves Carnival Curiosities............  hmmmm you might well wonder :-)

Hot MuSic!

WEll I am sitting here, happy as a lark, listening to my most fav' Aussie radio station.  It's not for the faint hearted or those who have a problem with the odd smattering of "blue" language, but there's a wealth of new and funky music, very alternative and lots of little labels you will never hear any where else!!  TRY IT!

The hotly coloured piece of artwork featured above is composed of two pic's of grafitti that I snapped in downtown Albany, a cut from a large monument down there and a lovely snap of a nice flower my Mum gave me....amazing what you can do with a little local colour!

Calm and White?

I woke up this morning to a tableau of Jack Frost carpeting the lawn and mistly white air...

Lots of last minute things to do this week and as much as I hate to do so, I will have to brave the madding crowd today in order to get to the post office and multiple other destinations on the "List"!

How is it that the four places you need to shop are never in the same mall and and usually facing totally opposite points of the compass?

Let them eat Popcorn!

I've finally managed to get my 'you know what' at the rockface and contrived a few traditional collage pieces that are overdue for exchanges. 
Red seems to be the theme which is kewl, being seasonal and all that.  This one seemed beachy and appropriate to share!

Slowly settling back into the clock over here and life 'en famille' again is proving to be interesting, if frustrating.  DH is used to the cats and his computer and spending a bazillion hours doing WORK.  I have become accustomed to less than 5 shops to spend money in and 4 TV channels (and so have the boys).  Going to the mall today was my personal equivalent of going to Hell!!....how quickly the young ones become re-acquainted with the glut of consumer items and total overkill with the budget!

Then...we went to see the beloved Harry Potter in the late afternoon (yes I am a fantasy fiend) and I nearly dropped dead when we had to pay full adult farefor two boys who are 12 and 13 NEVERMIND $24.70 for two buckets of popcorn and 4 drinks!  Add that to the movie tickets for 4 and you have the same total amount of money that I spend on groceries in Aus in half a week....ffffFAR OUT is all I can say!!

Illio Friday - Imagine

A bit chilly!

Hmm...somewhere along the line I went from instant sunshine and the lapping of clear blue water on the beach to balaclavas, double layer coats and bunched up piles of unmelted snow on salty sidewalks.  Talk about climate shock!  And we are driving back to Charlotte from Wilmington today - en famille - so lets hope the weather man gives us safe passage and we dont end up sliding all the way down I-95 on the sleet, snow and ice that is forecast!

Up Up and Away
