I created this piece a couple of weeks ago when I was thinking of my Grandmother. Both she and my Grandfather, each sadly gone from this place, were a great inspiration to me as a child and later as an adult.
My Gradmother was a fabulous woman. Holding home and hearth in place while my Grandfather sailed the seven seas, fought wars and warriored for the Empire. She had quite the romantic life in some ways, visiting places like Hong Kong, before there was traffic, had a home full of treasures from far-away places and a spice cupboard to die for!
My Grandfather ran away to sea from Tasmania when he was 13 on a Tall Ship, only later in his life to become a Merchant Seaman and eventually Captain of luxury liners for the P&O Cruise Company out of England.
It was my Grandmother who taught me how to knit, sent me my first recipe for Christmas Cake and taught me that nail biting was not for "ladies".
She is a shadow that will gladly be always at my side.
What a very rich, and cool, history!

This is a really beautiful collage! I can see the amount of time needed to create this piece. Great one!

What a beautiful tribute! Your grandparents sound like they deserve to become a novel...their lives must have been full of adventure, and they must have had such amazing personalities. I love the pretty pink behind this vintage gal...I like that you are remembering your grandmother as a young lady. The caption is delightful:>

One of my fave pieces ever, Marie!
The caption is wonderful, & the colors sing.
Is it an ATC? A canvas piece?
