Yesterday was a great Mail day - I had a surprise treat from a blog buddy, Pat! Her envelope contained a lovely piece of work, sent to me as part of her "Pay It Forward fun from her blog.
Thanks Pat.....this piece is quite delicious!
Next I received a box from my friend Chris, over at Prism Trail. We have been cooking up a little mischief lately and decided to work on a woven paper project and it had to consist of re-cycled magazine pages. It is most interesting to see how differently we interpreted the challenge - and I will leave it to Chris to post pics of what I sent her. These are some images of her wonderful creation - totally amazing and such a sculptural piece.
And last but not least are the pics of my finished book from Lynne Perella's class. After I got home and it had dried a bit more I attacked it with the sewing machine and free-motion stitched all over the canvas to give it just a BIT more texture....ha ha! (It's quite tall, measuring 12inches x 6 inches when folded into the book format.)
Wow! What a burst of colour - the class looks fantastic and the book unique - I want to gesso it lightly then journal on it - would your friend mind? LOL
I love seeingyou work with paper again - perhaps because i understand it and I don't understand the digital..

Eye candy indeed!!! I am particularly thankful for the amazing encaustic piece. To create each of those beautiful works of art for all of us, is a tribute to your generosity and talent. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Three posts about the weekend, plus you worked on your fabulous piece and finished it. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. Cheers to you, oh prolific one.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the shot of the air conditioning unit. You must make something with it. The colors and textures are incredible.

The Perella Book is great! -- terrific colors. I took her class (similar) at ArtUnraveled and now refer to the techniques/style as "making Perella paper".

Oh, MY! That tall journal you made is so incredibly gorgeous I can't stand it. YOU do great things with color! And I know first-hand that with you, the texture is rich and sumptuous. It's great that you had a class with Lynne!
I will be downloading the pics of your beautiful journal tonight and posting them. Thanks so much for such coolness!
