A Little Holiday Planning

I've been wrapping my head around designing this year's Holiday cards - and to that extent spent copious hours pouring over my vintage pics, ephemera and what not - trying to figure out JUST what to create.  I've laboriously cut out a number of lovely images and instead of putting them all in a folder on the hard drive have put a few of them together as DIGI cut-outs and stuck them in the Etsy Store.

If you are good with PNG files then you can use them "all cut-out" as part of a digital creation. Otherwise you can print and snip with your trusty scissors...either way works!

A-way

I'm off to the City tomorrow - some business, some pleasure and hopefully some ART!

Golden Moments

After my whining about the cold the other day, the big Man upstairs must have heard and offered up a weekend of sunshine and (balmy?) 65+ days.  On Saturday we went to an Antiquarian and Ephemera show here on the Island - much fun for a paper junkie like me - and then yesterday sought simpler pleasure, in the form of a walk on the beach at Old Field. 

It was gorgeous as you can tell from the pics.  Loads of other people with the same idea of soaking up the fantasticly warm sunshine - this little chap was having lots of fun building sand castles and being King of his own Hill.....Bliss!

Hiding From the Cold

It's cold and chilly outside, the possiblity of snow they say?  Hard to imagine but I guess Winter is really on the way!  A good excuse to stay indoors and work on some more Photoshop tutorials and catch up on inside things.

The Vintage Beauty image is a composite from an old stock photo combined with a scan of a polaroid transfer I did aeons ago (before Polaroid stopped making film). There are several layers of textures, scratchy things added to the mix and then some dodging and burning for good measure.  I like the old and distressed feel the piece ended up with.

Here's hoping you are staying warm and cozy too!

Rounded Corners - A Photoshop Tutorial

Finally, after much peer pressure (and what not!) I am getting my head around all this video business and have concocted a "very" simple tutorial in Photoshop for creating rounded corners on your pictures.

It's kind of basic, but I guess the best beginnings are!  Let me know what you think and if you'd like to see more!

Also, as a side note, the first video only addresses WIN settings but I plan to give you "bilingual" instructions in the future..so don't worry MAC users will find the videos easy to follow too!

Making Music

I'm dragging myself out from under a fairly hefty week of emotional (and surgical) mayhem and if my prayers - and all yours too - come to fruition, then maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

In the mean time I have been working on a Commission from my friend Elaine, to "fix" her wedding photos.  She hired a professional photographer take pictures of her perfect day, only to discover that he delivered 300 jpgs, straight out of the camera, no adjustments, no fixins and poor doll, she was horribly upset!  Arrive da Lost Aussie to the rescue and we have, so far, some 100 pics all delightfully glamour glowed and a lot more "Wedding-Y" and suitable for album printing.

And shhhhsh, don't tell Elaine, but I will have some of the best pics printed up into a Wedding Book just for her and Ash' !

While I was photoshopping away I decided to attack a few of my own images and lighted upon these two snaps that I grabbed in New York a month or so ago..... I loved the guy with the big Bass.  It was such a serendipitous moment and I don't know...musical instruments are always so wonderful to take pictures of - don't you think?
