A while ago I signed up to do a painting workshop with my friend Misty Mawn. Now if you know me well, then you know that painting is really 'not' my thing, but having been in a bit of an art funk of late - a little painting seemed like a good idea. So far I have just watched the videos and slurped up all of the goodwill that abounds on her class blog, facebook and flickr.
I think I know where my forte lies, but there's no harm in playing....right?
Tonight however I decided to put into practice some of Misty's good instructions and had a play with my paints (kind of grungy and dried up as they were!), collaged a little, made marks and generally had a bit of fun!
Wonderful artwork, Marie...
I've learned something from our friend Christine...what SHE learned from you...:)
Thank you!
Hugs,
Ilka

Marie, these are both fantastic, and I love those colors. What a regal bearing she has!
It's scary to do this. I am working on that sketchbook project, and it seems to be fighting me!

Very creative, lots of depth and intrigue. Definitely worth further pursuit!

Hmmmmm..."creating custom substrates".....is this something we'll be tackling at Art & Soul in May? I hope so!
Love the colour choices here, in both pieces. Such warm tones!

Oh, Marie, painting IS your thing!!! No harm in playing when you play THAT well!

hi,marie I like your mixed media woman. when I look at her it is as if she is staring intently at something going on behind me to the left! clear as mud? I think your forte might be shifting a bit! have you ever looked at anne bagby's work? she teaches a wonderful background called complicated paper. gives all sorts of texture and pattern. makes wonderful clothing for figures as well! keep going with the painting! lyle
