Mon - I decided to edit last nights post...
We met the boys down at Coney Island today to see what we could see. I always find a visit there leaves me totally confused because I can't understand why such a lovely spot can be left to be so derelict and disgusting in one direction and so pristine and beautiful in the other.
If the same landmark was in Florida or California, it would primped and pretty, pleasant places to sit eat and drink and still accessible to the common man. Instead the lovely boardwalk and Atlantic view is surrounded by tattered and torn razor wire, clumps of crumbling concrete and boarded up buildings, whose lovely yester-year facades are just being left to decay, one layer of paint at a time.
Probably the most interesting thing about a trip to Coney Island though, is the passing parade. There is everything there from the dude in his thousand dollar running shoes, to the babes with the bling and high heels -strutting their stuff, then there are the folk for whom sun shinny days bring the opportunity to drag their belongings from out of the subway shelters and breathe a little fresh air.
The personality that captured my camera's attention yesterday was the "out door barmaid" - such an interesting character don't you think? - She was mixing Daquiris and Margaritas - which to me, look more like nuclear fissionable material than something you might contemplate drinking!
Was the cigarette ash in the cocktail free of charge? lol Sue x

Love the shot of the barmaid. Coney Island! Spent many summer days there as a child. Better stick with my memories. I really like the way you put them all together.

I don't know.....seems to me that if it were in CA present day it would be in the same condition...such as other "like" areas in Mission Beach, San Diego.. I wonder how Santa Monica looks..probably the same.
In CA she probably wouldn't be smoking though. :)
Great montage.
