A challenge is always a good thing (see previous post). Pushing your boundaries and stretching beyond what is "usual" for you.
However it's also nice to work in your own comfort zone and style.
I'm often interviewed and asked about my "style" and how I would describe it. I guess these days I am refinining the descriptors to " illustrative, (somehwat) surrealistic, photographic come painterly.
I think really it's mixed media, collage and painterly - if I could be bothered to execute all the wet and messy steps that it would take to create the same work with brushes, paint and medium.
I started playing with Photoshop LONG before it became fashionable - and it's always been a passion of mine to integrate the realistic with the digital format. Where even if the image was printed you would get a sense of depth and texture.
So tell me about you. Do you work exclusively in mixed media or can you integrate your digital files, dreams, obessions into your current artwork?
I don't think I have a style. I think that I am so busy learning more and more about PhotoShop that I haven't settled on one style yet. I 'd like to, but I can't figure it out yet. Maybe I'm close, just not there yet.

I am liking photoshop more and more, but I have to say that I love the messiness that comes with paints, mediums, pastels, markers, water, glue and found objects. But I cast a wide net and like a lot of different things, and find that painting on canvas and constructing something 3D that involves measurements and spacial relationships are usually the two things I got to more than collage or sketch or digital.
This image is completely fabulous!

You always offer up so much to think about. I'd like to think my 'style' and my 'eye' are constantly evolving. I would say I'm photography-based..but spreading my wings and venturing into digital mixed media.

I feel like I'm a "Jack of all, master of none" kind of artist and am not sure what my style is. I've been doing Photoshop for 10 years and still feel like a novice. I love working with fabric and still feel like a novice with fabric and fibers. I love making dolls and wearables and still feel like a novice. I play with polymer and still feel like a novice. Hmmm...maybe my style is "novice."

mmmm whatever your style is it is VERY nice to say the least. I love how you combine a realistic foto with all your layers, etc. I would LOVE to be able to take one of my paintings and layer it up like you do and then make them into postcards/cards for selling at my art booths at Xmas and Easter....I WILL be in your next class you offer I can PROMISE you that:) Be there or be square!!! I am off to view your SOFOBOMOKOTODOFO book:)
